We will be heading to Knockree this weekend and staying in the hostel. We will be meeting on Friday at 6.45pm, travelling to Knockree and heading out on the hills on Saturday. We will be staying in a hostel but everyone will need lots and lots of warm clothes and rain gear (rain coat with a hood and rain trousers). At the moment the forecast is “thick cloud cover with a couple of showers”

As discussed with the scouts – Mobile phones will not be needed, mobile coverage is very limitied. any Scout’s phones will be collected by leaders at the start of the weekend.

We are aiming to be back at the Den on Sunday at 12pm.

As discussed at last night’s meeting, we will be meeting at the Den at 9:45 am on Saturday morning. We will be heading up to Carlingford and climbing Louth’s highest mountain Slieve Foye (588 metres).

Even though it lashed rain we got a lot of jobs done: 

• Cleaned mould from one of the marquees
• Tidied gear into separate boxes
• Disposed of two trailer loads of waste from garden, den and around the container
• Put all of the newer pioneering poles in the space cleared at side of container
• Repaired Lamps hanging from ceiling in kitchen
• Got a good start on organising Lightweight tents
• Organised lost property into boxes

We can’t wait for the upcoming weekend in Glendalough. The cost of the weekend is €15. We will be leaving on Friday evening and returning on Sunday afternoon.
