Hi all,

We will be going on a camping trip at Larch Hill this weekend. We are hoping as many Scouts as possible can go! The cost of the weekend is €30, which covers camping fees, food and van rental (for transporting equipment).

We no longer have use of our mini buses so are relying on parents to transport Scouts to Larch Hill. We will be meeting at the Den at 6:30pm on Friday. Scouts should have had their dinner on Friday afternoon as we will only be having a light snack on Friday evening.

Scouts will be ready to be picked up from Larch Hill at 12 noon. (We will keep you updated on the WhatsApp Group)

Gear List for the Camping Weekend:

  • Ground mat
  • Sleeping bag
  • Pyjamas
  • Eating utensils – plate, cup, knife, fork and spoon
  • Full rain gear
  • Full change of clothes
  • Hat and gloves
  • Spare warm jumper/fleece
  • Hiking Boots
  • Day Bag
  • Water Bottle/Platypus
  • Toiletries and Wash gear
  • Sun cream
  • Medication  (to be handed to Leaders)
  • Towel
  • Torch
  • A few black bags. (To be used to keep things dry)

If you have them:

As discussed at last night’s meeting, we will be meeting at the Den at 9:45 am tomorrow morning (Saturday 4th December). We will be heading down to Wicklow and climbing Maulin (570 metres).

The weather forecast is clear, but chilly so make sure to have plenty of layers, hats and gloves. You can view the forecast here

We will be hitting the hills this Sunday, heading up to Carlingford to climb Slieve Foye. We will be meeting at the Den at 9.45am and hope to be back between 4.30pm and 5pm (We will send a WhatsApp message from Carlingford when we are on the way back with a more accurate time).

The gear list is below. The cost is €2 per Scout.

Gear List:

  • Neckerchief
  • Full raingear (Trousers, and Jacket with hood: Must be water proof)
  • Packed lunch
  • Warm Clothes
  • Hat and Gloves
  • Hiking boots
  • Water bottle
  • Torch – preferably a head torch with spare batteries
  • A rucksack to put it all in
  • Plastic Bags
