1. Details of our Camp
We will be camping at a campsite in the Lough Key Forest Park in Co. Roscommon. We’ll be spending 7 days (6 nights) on camp. Saturday 1st – Friday 7th July.
The week is jam-packed with awesome activities, some of which are…. treetop canopy walk, orienteering, kayaking, rowing, campfires, Zipit highwires, pier jumping, surfing, Boda Borg challenges and quests.
2. Gear List
Below is the list of gear that you must have to ensure you have a safe and enjoyable camp.
Some people have asked about survival bag, these are available in most camping shops, e.g. -> Scout Shop , Decathalon , Regatta
It is also a good idea to have spare neckerchief(s). If you have any questions or think of anything that needs to be added to the list, let us know. It is essential that you have all the gear, please do not forget anything.
- Eating utensils (Plate, Bowl, Cup, Knife, Fork, Spoon)
- Water bottle
- Survival/Bivvy Bag
- Sleeping Bag
- Ground Mat
- Runners (old for water sports)

- A few changes of clothes
- Spare socks, underwear
- Warm fleece, Jumper (even though it’s summer!!)
- Pyjamas
- Waterproof raincoat with hood
- Rain trousers
- Hiking Boots
- Swimming gear
- Towel
- Sun cream
- Medications (to be handed to Leaders)
- Insect repellent
- Personal first aid kit
- Toiletries
- Torch (preferably head torch)
- A few black bags
- A small day bag
If you have them:
- Penknife
- Colouring Pencils, stickers etc.. for log book
3. Lough Key Forest Park
Lough Key Forest Park is a popular tourist attraction located in County Roscommon, Ireland. It is a beautiful woodland park situated on the southern shores of Lough Key, a large lake in the area. The park covers an area of about 350 hectares and offers a wide range of activities for visitors of all ages.
It is approx. 2 hours 15 mins drive from Swords.
The centre provides high quality outdoor and adventure activities and focus on developing an active and healthy lifestyle, developing an interest in nature and the outdoors and developing an awareness and understanding of well-being and teamwork.

4. Phones and Money
Accommodation, food and all activities are already paid for so Scouts can bring some spending money for sweets, treats and souvenirs. The maximum amount that you can bring is €50.
We will do the usual procedure with phones. Phones will be handed up to leaders at the start of camp. Scouts will all be too busy doing amazing activities to use them anyway! Scouts can then use their phones every second day to contact home.
