Glendalough – Final Details

We will be meeting at 7pm at the Den tomorrow. We will be returning to the Den on Sunday afternoon for 2pm approx. We will confirm the time on Sunday morning.

The Gear List is in the post below. Could you also please bring eating utensils (plate, cup, cutlery)

Glendalough – 17th-19th October – Gear List

Hi all,

We can’t wait for the upcoming weekend in Glendalough. The cost of the weekend is €15. We will be leaving on Friday evening and returning on Sunday afternoon.

As the Scouting Motto goes – Bí Ullamh (Be prepared), so in preparation we talked about what gear we need for the weekend at last week’s meeting. Below is a reminder of the gear needed.

Here is the gear list for the weekend:

  • Neckerchief
  • Sleeping Bag
  • Two Full change of clothes
  • Hat
  • GlovesPacking
  • Thick jumper
  • Day bag (backpack)
  • Hiking boots
  • Thick socks
  • Rain gear – Rain Jacket and Rain Trousers
  • Torch
  • Emergency rations (sweets)
  • Survival bag (bivi bag)
  • Whistle
  • Platypus/Water Bottle
  • Towel
  • Wash gear

If you have it:

  • Personal first aid kit
  • Compass

Saturday Campcraft – Tomorrow 12-2pm and Glendalough Weekend

Saturday Campcraft – 12-2pm, 11th October

We had a fantastic turnout at last week’s Campcraft meeting and we hope this will continue over the weeks. We will be meeting tomorrow (Saturday 11th October) at the Den at 12 noon and practising our skills until 2pm. Hope to see you all tomorrow. (Uniform is not needed, just neckerchief)

Glendalough – Fri 17th – Sun 19th October

We will be heading off next Friday evening (17th October) and spending 2 nights in Glendalough. As discussed at last night’s meeting, the cost will be €15 and we hope all Scouts will make the weekend. We will be staying in a house and will have the whole place to ourselves. We will have great craic and hike in one of the most beautiful parts of Ireland. It will be awesome! We will post the gear list shortly……….

 

Welcome to our new Ravens!

It was great to see all our Scouts tonight, with a very special welcome to our new Ravens – Aoife, Chloe, David, Harry, Heather, Jamie, Nicole and Séan!!

Saturday Campcraft:

We are meeting at the Den on Saturday to practice our Campcraft Skills – putting up tents, lighting fires and cooking. It’d be great if all Scouts could make it. It will be from 12 – 2pm and we will have lunch at the Den (which will be cooked by some Scouts)! Hope to see you all then.

Glendalough Trip:

We will be heading away to Glendalough for a weekend soon…… We will be heading off on Friday 17th and coming back on Sunday 19th October. We will be staying in 2 houses and there will be lots of activities, a hike and plenty of craic so put it in your diaries now! We will have full details of price etc at next weeks meeting.

Secret Challenge:

This was not announced at this evening’s meeting….. because it’s a secret challenge….. The challenge is….. The first Scout to go up to Chuckie at the Campcraft training on Saturday and say the phrase “Ravens fly high” will be rewarded with a prize.
