Upcoming events and Ravens in the media!

Hi all,

We have a few events happening this week…… read on for full details!

Swords Needs Playgrounds – Collection – Friday 14th and Saturday 15th June

A number of you have already put your names down to help out with the collections this weekend. We are hoping as many Scouts as possible can help out and we are still looking for volunteers. We will talk more on Thursday about it.

Hike – Sunday 16th June

We have a hike planned for this Sunday. The mountain which we are going to conquer has yet to be decided (suggestions welcome!).
Again we will talk more on Thursday about it. You will need the usual hiking gear :

  • Hiking boots
  • Hat / cap
  • Day bag
  • Packed lunch
  • Plenty of drinking water (preferably in a platypus if you have one)
  • Sun cream or rain gear (may need both depending on weather!)

If you have them:

  • Compass
  • First aid kit

Hitting the headlines

James and Sorcha recently helped out at the Swords Tidy Towns Cleanup, a great effort which was recognised in the local media! They made the headlines, click here to “read all about it”-> http://alturl.com/d969t

Swords Needs Playgrounds – Collections (14th – 16th June)

Yo Ravens,

Marica from the “Swords needs Playgrounds” campaign was speaking with you at our meeting last night and has asked us to help out with the bucket collections.

The collections will be taking place in Swords main Street and the Pavilions and the days are the 14th, 15th and 16th of June. We are looking for as many Scouts as possible to help out with the collection so put the dates in your diaries!!

Thanks!

Raven of the Year and Campfire Songs

Greetings Ravens,

We have updated the  Raven of the Year Leaderboard which sees a new leader storm into the lead! Well done to James for taking top spot, racking up loads of points with perfect uniform, getting stuck into badgework and helping out at the Ward River cleanup at the weekend. Danielle is not too far behind, with Stefanie also hot on their heels……. there are still plenty of points on offer between now and the end of June. Keep up the great work everyone.

Campfire Songs

We have started learning some campfire songs and will put links to the songs up on the website. We know the songs are unbelievably catchy but just in case you forget how they go, we’ll leave a link to them up here :

Hi All,

a reminder that we will be taking part in the annual Ward River Clean-up tomorrow. We will be helping out the  Swords Tidy Towns Committee. We will meet at 10.00am at the entrance to the Town Park across from the Castle Shopping Centre.

We will be finished by 2.00pm. We hope as many of you can make it as possible. Please wear your neckerchief and clothes which will get dirty.
