Thanks!!
Patrols were challenged to burn through a piece of wool which was 6 feet away. Armed with 20 bamboo sticks, a tea light and elastic bands the patrols designed and built a structure to support their team light. Well done to each patrol for successfully completing the challenge.
Team work makes the dream work!
We were missing one of our leaders, Shay, who is currently on the other side of the world, living it up!
So we sent him a message, Raven Troop style!
We spent the weekend in Lough Dan hostel. Hiked up Kanturk and Scarr mountains in very very windy conditions! Great craic altogether!
Hi all,
A massive welcome to our new Scouts who joined us at last week’s meeting. You all settled in really well and we hope you enjoyed it. At the meeting we discussed our upcoming weekend away. We will be hostelling in Lough Dan Scout Centre, Wicklow – http://www.loughdan.com/
The cost of the weekend is €25. We will be leaving on Friday evening and returning on Sunday afternoon.
As the Scouting Motto goes – Bí Ullamh (Be prepared), so in preparation we talked about what gear we need for the weekend at last week’s meeting. Below is a reminder of the gear needed.
Here is the gear list for the weekend:
If you have it:
Personal first aid kit
Compass
Photos from the Fingal Scout County Camp. Approx. 550 scouts from all over the county spent the weekend camping in Malahide. The weekend was jam packed with bases and loads of activities…. Brackenstown were assigned the United Kingdom as our representative country. I think we can say we did a good job and flew the “Union Brack” with pride!
A reminder that we’re meeting at the Den at 5.45 this evening and setting off for Malahide.
Also, we’ve added a white t-shirt to the gear list.
Please ensure that you have everything on the gear list so an awesome weekend can be had by all!
See you later!

We spent our week in the totally awesome setting of Castle Saunderson. We scaled new heights, rock climbing on the chimney and stacking up to 21 milk crates. We explored the surroundings orienteering – getting lost and then found again!
We built rafts as well as canoeing on the river.
We slept in tents, Adirondack shelters and our shelters we made ourselves in the woods. We cooked on fires, gas, ordered pizza and dined out in Cavan town as part of our Treasure hunt…..and loads more activities.
It was an unforgettable week where we all learnt new skills, made new friends and had an amazing time!
