Cake Sale – Sunday 3rd in the Den

Hi Ravens,

The Cubs are running a Cake Sale on Sunday which will start at 9:30am. It’s on in the Den and will be on for a few hours…..as long as there are goodies left.

It’d be great if you could spread the word and support them. Make sure to get there early to get all the best stuff.

The leaders favourite cakes are chocolate eclairs…… just saying.

Greetings Ravens,

We covered a lot last night so we’ve listed a few things below as reminders.  We’ve also added details to “Upcoming Events” (over there ————————————>)

Patrol Activity

We know one Patrol has already done their Patrol Activity (Well done Aoife’s Patrol!).  Each Patrol will be giving a presentation to the rest of the Troop on Thursday 7th March so your activity has to be completed by then.

Special Interest Badge

Each of you got a planner last night, so fill this out and bring it along next week. We’ll have a look over it and then you can get cracking on earning the badge. There is further details in the Badgework section of the website. Have a look up top and click on Badgework -> Special Interest Badges. There are loads of suggestions and info on there. If you have any questions contact your PL or one of the leaders.

Annual Camp 2013

Remember each of you got a letter last night with details about Annual Camp 2013. Please bring the completed forms along with you next week. We have added a section to the website which will have all the info for Annual Camp 2013, so check it out!

Eurovision!

Don’t forget the voting for Eurovision will be on “The Late Late Show” tonight (Friday) so make sure and check it out  and vote for Ryan Dolan – song number 4!

Annual Camp Details – Saturday 27th July – 3rd August

Yo Ravens,

Annual Camp 2013 has been booked. We had such an awesome time in Lough Keel last year that we’re gonna head back there. This is a fantastic campsite in Roscommon with great facilities. If you don’t believe me check it out here-> http://www.loughkeelcamp.com/index.htm

It will be a joint camp between ourselves and the Monday scouts so it’ll be great craic!
We will be spending a week on camp right in the middle of summer so we are (almost) guaranteed great weather! We’ll be staying there from Saturday 27th of July to 3rd August.

We’re hoping that a troop from Germany will also join us, they have yet to confirm if they can make it or not. In the spirit of the gathering and all that! (http://www.thegatheringireland.com/)

The camp site where we will be staying is very close to the Lough Key forest park. There is loads and loads of stuff to do in Lough Key (http://www.loughkey.ie/). We will have a jam packed camp, much like last year:

– Swimming in the Lake
– Rowing out to an Island on Lough Key and Bivying
– Zip Lines (http://www.zipit.ie/)
– Boda Borg (http://www.loughkey.ie/boda-borg/introduction.html)

We are looking into costs and hoping to keep it as low as possible and it will likely cost below the €200 mark. Camp bank is now open so you can start paying into it straight away!

So, that’s just a taste of what we will be doing, we will also be doing badgework so everyone on camp will be awarded badges so bring your sewing kits, your arms will be full of badges by the end of the camp!!

Please let us know if you will be coming along so that we can plan around the numbers. Let us know if you have any questions.

Here is the “Key” (see what I did there) info :
Where : Lough Key, Roscommon
When : Sat 27th July – Sat 3rd August

Directory Delivery 2013

Hi Scouts and Parents,

Most of you will already be aware that the Brackenstown Scout Group publishes the Swords Trade Directory annually. The directory is the group’s single biggest fundraiser and all the profits from it go back directly to the scouts in Brackenstown.

This coming Saturday 2nd January the group will be meeting at 10am at the Brackenstown Scout Den to deliver the directory around Swords.

In order to complete the delivery on the day we need

  • every scout to come forward to help in the delivery
  • as many parents as possible to come forward to help

All scouts must be present. If there is a genuine reason a scout cannot make it the scout must attend the meeting on Monday with a note from their parent with a brief explanation.

If a scout is attending an entrance exam that morning they can still come to help in the afternoon.

Of course every bit of help is greatly appreciated!
