Hello All, hope you all had a good Summer and are looking forward to getting back to the Scouts

We are asking all Scouts to attend a special mass this Sunday 14th September. Please meet in the hall at 12.00 noon in full uniform for 12.30 mass. The mass is Father Dermots last in St Cronans and we want as many Scouts as possible to attend.  Please make an effort as we will be making a presentation to him on behalf of our group and we need a good turnout.  Make the effort with your uniform.

Our Troop meetings will resume on Thursday 18th September at 07.00 pm sharp. If you have photos from the Jamboree bring them along so we can all have a look at them. The Leaders are looking forward to seeing all you lot again and we know you feel the same !!!

We survived !!!

Hi all, just a few words to say thanks to you all for making the Jamboree such an enjoyable experience. a particular word of thanks for the way you all accepted the situation on Saturday and made it a memorable evening. The work that was put in on Sunday morning to strike camp was excellent. If you have any photos we will organise to get them to Ian and we will put up on the site. Troop meetings will start back in mid September. As we had to abandon our awards ceremony for the Jamboree due to the weather, we will present these on our first night back. So until then, stay safe and enjoy the rest of your holidays .

Almost time to go to Jamboree 08

Hi all, only a few days to go before we depart for the Jamboree. Just some things to remember.

We are meeting at 07.30 am on Saturday at the hall. Dont be late, we have to pack the van and must be on the road asap.

You do not have to wear your uniform on Saturday Morning. Just your neckerchief and your Scout Tee Shirt if you have one.

Bring your Uniform in a plastic bag with your name on it, you definitely need it for Saturday’s opening ceremony.

The maximum amount of spending money you can bring is €150. You dont have to bring this much, but certainly dont bring anymore.

if you were not at the meeting with your Parents, please make sure you have filled out a Mdeical consent form and pass to one of the leaders.

If your family intend to visit on open day 6th August, they must advise names and Car Reg before we go, as they require passes for each person and the car.

You may bring along MP3’s and speakers, CD players ( battery operated) but remember they are your responsibility.  If you have a radio bring it along, the Jamboree has its own FM station.

You can bring a mobile phone, they will be held by the leaders during the day and you can use for a while in the evenings.

Dont forget your Dracula costume for Romania day.

Remember we are camping so ditch all the fancy clothes, three quarter lenghts and shorts are the dress for camp.

Put your name on everything.

The Dubs play in the All Ireland 1/4 final on Saturday 9th so  bring your flags and Jerseys and we will decorate our site.

Bring whistles, drums, any thing that makes noise, these are required for the opening ceremony.

And lastly bring along your best mood, leave all those Teenage and pre-teen  whinges behind, We are going on holidays.

check the site over the next couple of days for any updates.

Jamboree News

Hi all, if you still owe money for the Jamboree, please make every effort to pay by this Thursday 24th July. If you need to know the balance that you owe, send a text to Shay and he will advise. This thursday will be our last full meeting before we go so make sure you are down on time and in Uniform. We are planning to have a very short meeting for your parents next week, we will give you details on Thursday.

Important – Important – Important

On the Wednesday of the Jamboree each Scout Troop have been assigned a Country that they must adopt for the day. We have got ROMANIA, so we need your help. We need to find out as much as possible about Romania i.e. traditonal food, dress music and customs. We will need to transform our site into Romania for the day so think about it over the next couple of days and we will discuss on Thursday.

see ya

Hi!

Dont know about you guys but all the leaders were totally wrecked after the weekend in the ‘ Bog of the ring’, a really enjoyable weekend. No doubt some of you went to bed on Sunday evening and did not get up until Monday afternoon. The waterfight was cool despite the actions of some sneaky Scouts who pretended they were taking no part then joined in the attack against the leaders. We will not forget !!! ok Emma.

Scouts as usual this Thursday, full uniform. The Jamboree is almost on top of us so make sure you get your fee in as soon as possible.

see you all Thursday

News – News – News

Hi everybody, hope the exams are going well for the Junior Cert Scouts, to those of you still in School dont worry, you only have a couple of weeks. To those who are already on holidays, you are so lucky!

We are going camping this weekend to to the ‘Bog of the Ring’. We are going this Friday evening 13th June ( spooky) sometime after 7.00 pm and will be back on Sunday about 2.00 pm. It will be a relaxing weekend, no big hikes!!! so try and come along if you are available. We will need to charge a fee for the weekend and will update the site as soon as we figured out how much it will cost. We will put a recommended equipment list on the site shortly.

Dont forget you public speaking merit badge, you should have prepared a speech on the topic that was assigned to you, if you have forgotten your topic, pick something else and bring it along. You wont have to speak to the whole troop if you dont feel like it.

see you all Thursday

Hi All

Hope the studying is going well for all the Scouts facing the Junior Cert exams, keep up the good work only a couple of weeks left.

We are trying to organise a camping weekend on Friday 13th June, will confirm this asap. Let us know on Thursday if you are available. Also we want to start making use of our new mini buses so please make an effort to be on time on Thursady nights otherwise you might arrive down to find the hall empty.

Jamboree 2008, we really need to finalise on the numbers by the end of the week, if you are planning to attend please make sure you make a payment this Thursday 22May 08 in order to book your place. A Jamboree is a really great experience and not every Scout gets an opportunity to attend.  All the leaders have attended a Jamboree and we would all highly recommend it.

See you all Thursday

Update

Dont forget that  although the evenings are getting better you must still wear your Uniform to the troop meeting, so lay off the texts pleading to wear tee shirts and shorts !!!!

It is less than 100 days to the Jamboree and we really need to firm up on the numbers that are going so we need to know exactly who is planning to come with us. If you have not paid a deposit yet please do so as soon as you can.

Still trying to organise a weekend or even a night camping during the month of May, trying to find a date that suits as many as possible as some leaders are on holidays and there are Communion ceremonies on. will let you know as soon as possible.

see you all Thursday

Scout of the Year 2007 – Well done Katie

Super congrats to Katie Lynch for bagging the coveted scout of the year award last month. Katie has been working away on the badgework for some time and it really paid off when it came to the award. All of you should be doing the same for next year. (hint hint)

Really well done!!!!
